You have one working key and want a second one before anything happens to it. KeyHub Locksmith makes car key copies at your vehicle: we cut the blade, program the chip or remote to your car, and test the new key with you before we leave.
You get your exact price over the phone before we send a technician, and that price doesn't change when we arrive. A technician reaches you in 15–20 minutes, any day of the week.
Call us with your car's year, make and model to get a price for a spare key.

Duplicating a car key means making a new key from a working one. Your existing key gives us the cut pattern and tells us which chip and remote the car expects, so the job usually involves fewer steps than making a key when none are left.
A single key is the most common reason people call us for a spare.

Many used vehicles come with a single key, and the second one was lost long ago.

A second driver needs a key that both opens the doors and starts the engine.

A copy cut from the key code instead of the worn blade turns more smoothly in the door and ignition.

A spare kept in a safe place saves a call when the main key goes missing.

If every key is already gone, the job is different. Our all keys lost service covers making a key from the vehicle itself.
A modern car key copy has up to three parts that must match your car: the metal blade, the transponder chip that the immobilizer reads, and the remote buttons. What we do depends on which of these your key has.
Blade cut to match the original
Blade cut, chip programmed or copied so the engine will start
Blade cut, chip programmed, remote buttons paired
New smart key registered to the car; emergency blade cut
Many newer vehicles use laser-cut keys, also called sidewinder or high-security keys. The cut runs along the middle of the blade in a groove instead of along the edge, and it takes a different cutting machine than a standard key. For many vehicles, both edge-cut and laser-cut blades can be cut at your car. Tell us the year, make and model and we confirm on the phone whether your blade can be cut on site.
When the original blade is worn, we cut the copy to the factory key code when it is available for your vehicle, instead of copying the wear.
A key cut at a hardware store or kiosk can open the doors and still fail to start the car. Most vehicles from roughly the late 1990s onward have an immobilizer, and the engine starts only when it recognizes the chip in the key. A spare car key is ready to use when the blade turns the lock and the car accepts the chip. We check both before we finish.
Not sure whether your key has a chip? Call us and tell us the year, make and model.

The best time to get a spare car key is while you still have a working one. With an original in hand, we copy what already works. Without one, the key has to be made from the vehicle, which takes more work and depends more on the make, model, year and key system.
A spare also changes what happens on a bad day. If your only key is lost, broken or locked inside, you need a locksmith visit before you can drive. With a spare at home or with someone you trust, you have another way back into the car.
If your current key is broken, damaged or no longer works reliably, a new key is a replacement job rather than a copy. See car key replacement.

Year, make, model, and a photo of the key help us confirm the right blank and remote before the trip.

We give you the exact price for the copy, or for each copy if you want more than one, before we send anyone.

At the car, the technician identifies the cut and checks what chip and remote the vehicle uses.
The blade is cut, then the chip and any remote buttons are programmed to your car.

Lock, unlock and start the car with the new key and with your original before we leave.

The new key is usually ready during the same visit when the vehicle allows. Some models need extra steps or a part that has to be ordered, and we will tell you that on the phone.
You get your exact price over the phone before we send a technician, and it doesn't change when we arrive. To quote a car key copy, we look at:
Plain metal, transponder, remote head or smart key.

Standard edge cut or laser-cut / high-security blade.

Chip only, chip and remote, or smart key registration.

Year, make and model decide the blank and the programming steps.
How many spare keys you want made in the same visit.
Mobile service price may depend on your city and distance, and it is already included in your quote.
A spare key fob or smart key must be programmed to your car before it will open the doors or start the engine. When you have a working fob, we program the new one alongside it. If you need a fob replaced, reprogrammed, or you bought one online, our key fob programming service explains what is possible.
